3RD PERSON POV
"Hey Abhi, can you bring me to your place?" Dhivya asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"Hmm, sure if you answer my questions?" Abhi replied, studying her carefully.
"Okay, you've got a deal for yourself," she agreed, a hint of determination in her voice.
"Why was your sister crying over there? Who were those strange people at the house?" Abhi inquired, my curiosity piqued by the events unfolding before us.
"Well, I've never seen her crying; This was the first time I saw her like that. I don't know much about those strange people. I've just met them at her cabin this afternoon. They started bonding with me as if they knew me well. She tried to stop them from interacting with me, but then she was stopped by Rohan. They seemed to know me before, but I never saw them before this. I'm sure," Dhivya explained, her words tumbling out in a rush as she struggled to make sense of the situation.
"Do you have any idea why she wants you to talk to them?" Abhi pressed, a sense of unease settling over me as I tried to piece together the puzzle.
"She said it's not good to bond too much with strangers, even if she knows them," Dhivya replied, her voice trailing off as she pondered the significance of her sister's words.
"Okay then, let me tell Rohan that you're gonna be with me," Abhi said, reaching for my phone as I prepared to navigate the uncertain waters ahead.
Figuring out that those strangers might be my estranged family, Abhi deduced to a conclusion that they were causing problems. He brought Dhivya to his house, where Ashwini took care of her, while he made a phone call to Rohan.
"Rohan, I know what's going on there. They're planning to take her; she raised her as if her child and gave her everything that the family couldn't give. It's not fair to let them take her," Abhi explained urgently, his voice tinged with concern.
"Yeah, I know which is why I put them on hold. She's so scared of losing her. I gotta console her. Okay, just take care of her! Bye!" Rohan's voice came through the phone, filled with a sense of urgency.
"Yeah, I will! Take care of yourselves too," Abhi replied, hanging up the phone with a determined expression.
Puzzled about what to do next, Abhi contacted my uncle and explained everything that happened. My uncle gave his opinion on the matter, which Rohan reluctantly agreed to later.
After that, my bhabhi went to talk with Rohan, and I suddenly interrupted them; she seemed to be crying. She told us everything about why she did what she did and how she regretted it so much until she decided to adopt a child and raise her as her own after getting to know about Dhivya.
After talking with her and considering Rohan's opinion on this, I finally believed that my family had changed for the better. It made me feel happy, even though the change was late but more necessary than ever.
THE NEXT DAY
I asked Rohan to bring Dhivya back and decided to tell her every truth about her. Dhivya came back to me running and tugged me in her warm hugs. After the hug, I pulled her with me and told her everything that was related to her.
She handled it cool and hugged her parents. I was amazed by the maturity she showed in such circumstances. With everything settled, Dhivya had finally reunited with her parents and turned over a new leaf. My brother, my bhabhi, and my dad finally apologized to me sincerely, which made me forgive them and helped me let go of my horrible past grieving.
I was overwhelmed when she was leaving. But, she was with her parents who doted on her after 5 years. So, we sent her off. After her departure, everything was quite abnormal for a few days, but I got used to it later; I called her every day and talked to her to make sure that she was as happy as ever.
As time passed, I couldn't shake off a small doubt that lingered in the back of my mind. Despite everything seemingly settling into place, a part of me wondered if any more hidden truths were waiting to be unraveled.
And soon it was going to be my birthday. My first birthday was filled with happiness. Rohan started dropping hints that he had something special planned for me, and even my uncle was in on the surprise. The morning of my birthday, he woke me up with a cup of my favorite indulgence. I relished every sip, savoring the moment.
As I sat there enjoying my drink, Rohan handed me his phone where Dhivya was online. Her cheerful voice filled the room as she wished me a happy birthday and expressed her love and longing to see me. It warmed my heart, knowing that even though we were miles apart, our bond remained strong.
"I finally realized the taste of pure and true love," I thought to myself, a smile spreading across my face.
When I emerged from my room to leave for the medical camp, Rohan was waiting for me, dressed in traditional attire. He looked stunning, and I couldn't help but admire his appearance.
"H-H-Hey, you look handsome today," I stammered, feeling a blush creeping up my cheeks.
"Hmm, so you like it? Not bad at all. You look beautiful and ravishing in that saree!" he complimented me, his eyes twinkling with warmth.
"Do I? This was the only thing I had as a reminder of my mom; wearing it after ages. You look like a hot Indian guy with that kurta" I replied, feeling a surge of nostalgia wash over me. "which I seemed to enjoy a lot," I whisper-muttered.
"So, you're enjoying me?" he teased, his voice husky as he leaned in closer.
"Well, I didn't mean it in that way!" I stuttered, feeling my heart race at the implication of his words.
"So, what else did you enjoy?" he smirked, his gaze lingering on me suggestively.
"You're not going to the office?" I quickly changed the topic, knowing where the conversation was heading.
"Yeah, but I was planning to go to the temple with you today since it's your birthday," he replied, his expression softening as he took my hand in his.
"You're not bringing your uniform?" I raised an eyebrow, curious about his choice of attire.
"I have a mini closet at my cabin; I can change my dress at the office and even in front of you," he whispered, sending a shiver down my spine.
Gosh, this man and his words!
Shameless
"How did you manage to pull Dhivya on call?" I asked, steering the conversation away from dangerous territory.
"Besides being in the army, I'm tech-savvy too. I know how to pull strings. What are you waiting for? Let's go to the temple!" he exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
After we visited the temple together, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was truly blessed by the goddess. He dropped me off at the hospital for the medical camp while he went on his way, leaving me with a sense of contentment and gratitude for the wonderful day we had shared.
